Childhood and adolescence
Mangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka is Aishwarya's home town where she appeared in 1973. Her dad, Krishnaraya Rai, worked as an officer at merchant navy and her mom was a writer. Aishwarya has only one sibling. Aishwarya's native language is Tulu, later, she learned a few more languages, English and Hindi are among them. After Aishwarya's emerge into the world her mom and dad settled in Mumbai, where a girl was spending all her child years. There she went to school and was an excellent student. She was really fond of dances and classic music. Rai was very lively and sociable, she was popular among classmates and had a lot of friends. When finishing the school, Rai entered a college, from where transferred to a different college. And after its graduation she enrolled in the university of Rahedzhl, where she studied architecture.
After graduating from university, Aishwarya worked for a modeling agency. In 1994, she took part in a beauty contest “Miss of the World” and won it. After such success, she began receiving a bunch of attractive deals for starring in commercials. Rai appeared in India as the face of the advertising operating for Pepsi, then she emerged in advertising for the cosmetology manufacturers like Chanel and Dior, she also was on the Vogue's cover. Bollywood directors paid attention to Rai and sent her a lot of invitations to film in motion pictures. Rai's premiere in the motion picture occurred in the 1997's movie “Duet” director of which was Mani Tha Nam. This motion picture got a lot of positive critical reviews and had not been popular. That same year, Rai emerged in “They Love Each Other” portraying the character of Asha Kapoor. For this part, Rai attained the title of the best newcomer.
“I was studying to be an architect, I wasn't plotting to join the movies. Films were just another career option. I took acting up with the same schoolgirl enthusiasm I had for examinations. Acting is a job and I take it very seriously” Aishwarya said in one of her interviews.
In the 1999, Rai emerged in “Forever yours” as the character of Nandini. This part earned her a title in 2000 for being the Best Actress.
In the 2001, Rai was a nominee for Indian Oscar as the best actress for her part in “My Heart Is for You!”. In 2002, Rai has filmed in love drama “Devdas” embodying the image of Parvati. The motion picture was the greatest in the Bollywood history, hitting all records in India's and Americas box offices. This picture was the first Bollywood movie that was ever demonstrated at the Cannes International Film Festival, where Rai was a member of a jury. That same year, Rai concluded a deal with the cosmetology company L'Oreal, being the face of its advertising campaign. She took part in campaigns for Coca-Cola and producer of diamonds DeBeers.
After gaining worldwide glory, Rai decided to conquer Hollywood. In the year of 2004, she emerged in her first movie where she had to speak English. It was made by Chadha and called “Prejudice and Bride”. The picture was a success globally. Rai continued to film in Hollywood movies, the following of which was the drama “Spices Mistress”, where Rai embodied a spices store owner. Then, Rai took part in the filming of such shows as: “David Letterman's Show”, “60 Minute” and “The Oprah Winfrey”. Later she continued to conquer Hollywood by appearing in “The Legion Last", “Asterix and Obelix" and the second part of “Pink Panther”.
Currently, there are about 17,000 internet web-sites devoted to Rai. She appears on the pages of famous journals. She was the first Indian woman whose persona emerged in the Madame Tussauds museum. Rai keeps on acting in motion pictures.
In the year of 2010, Rai emerged in “Raavan”, “Enthiran”, “Guzaarish”, and «Replay Action In 2015, Aishwarya will be seen in the “Jazbaa”.
For several years Rai was dating an Indian Salman Khan, whom she met on the set of the movie “Yours Forever”. Fans were happy that their two favorite actors got together and journalists called them the most beautiful couple in Indian cinematography. However, the apparent prosperity concealed pain and suffering of Rai. Her boyfriend was drinking alcohol constantly, he was unfaithful and very jealous and often angrily beat his girlfriend. The girl's parents did not want to give a daughter in marriage to a man and did not agree to their marriage. This infuriated Salman had beaten Rai. After that in 2004 she broke up with him.
Later Rai met Abhishek Bachchan, a son of the famous actor of Indian cinematography Amitabh Bachchan. After several years of relationship the couple announced about their engagement and then wedding, which was held at the residence of Bachchan family “Pratiksha” in Mumbai. The celebration was held in a narrow circle, attended only by family and close friends. According to Indian traditions couple is living with the parent of the groom with whom she has developed excellent relationships. Amitabh Bachchan even made his daughter-in-law a president of his film production company Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd. In November 2011, Aishwaray had a daughter who was named Aaradiya Bachchan.
